I have many pieces of furniture that have probably been around too long. If you're like me, and don't want to trade it in for something from Ikea, your best option is to try to make it look new again. That's where Jessica from Domestic Bliss Squared comes in. I found her blog through Listotic where they included her before and after results in a list about cleaning tips and tricks. Upon further research, I was able to find Jessica's project.
Jessica describes having a beloved piece of furniture that they refer to as her "ugly grandpa furniture." It is pictured in the before photo above. It was definitely in bad shape, to say the least. She found a solution from Lily & Thistle, and tried it out.
*She mixed them together, but didn't have quite as much olive oil as the recipe called for, but still decided to go forward with the project. She used 1/2 a cup of vinegar and 1/2 a cup of olive oil instead.
She dipped a kitchen rag into the solution and used almost all of it, rubbing it into the wood of the whole table.
To her surprise it came out almost brand new! The results are phenomenal. If she had used the correct measurements I could only imagine the results would be even better! What a great and simple trick to make your furniture look like new again, I only wish I knew about this years ago!
