  1. Not a fan of this method, for several reasons.
    1. It doesn't work if the leg has a considerable taper or flare, especially if you have to shorten it as much as I do. (Up to 4 inches even if I buy petite sizes.)
    2. It adds bulk to the hem.
    3. I don't like raw edges, even with fray check they can start unraveling.
    4. That extra seam right above the original hem will start to show after a few washings.
    5. A traditional hem is much harder to do, and, with the right thread, it will look like the original hem after a few washinhs.
